Heavy rains are being blamed for algae spotted floating in Lake of the Ozarks this summer

Heavy rains are being blamed for algae spotted floating in Lake of the Ozarks this summer. According to a news release from the Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Alliance, the green splotches are from a plant called duckweed, and have increased in growth as a result of water runoff. The Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Alliance says the duckweed is not harmful for swimmers or boaters, and should be all cleared up by the end of the season, as reported at ky3.com.
