OZARK, Mo. — Residents are being warned about an increase in car thefts around the Ozarks. So far this year in Springfield, 1,021 cars have been stolen, and in Ozark, officers say car thefts have nearly doubled compared to this time last year, ky3.com reports. Police say folks who leave their cars unlocked and people warming up their vehicles, as the colder temperatures settles in, leaving them unattended, are putting themselves at risk for having their car stolen.
